29th Week of School

This week went by quick. On Monday, we had orientation practice in homeroom. Periods were odd. Period 4 worked afterschool sales. I stopped by the library to get an AR book to read. I took a test on Friday for two books. The one direction book and a diary of a wimpy kid book. In period one we had to turn in our kitchen safety brochures. In period three, we started on our first drafts. In period five, we had a substitute, and we had to gather all of our notes together for our 3rd Quarter test. In track, we did lots of conditioning. We ran a lot. Alesia was sweating a lot more than she normally does because she isn't a long distance runner, but she had to run the long distance warm ups. On Tuesday the periods were even. In period six, we took notes on poetry terms. In period two, we took notes. In period four, we practiced orientation dance. Sheila joined track. We did more running that day. On Wednesday we had no school. It was Prince Kuhio day. I barely did anything that day. But I had softball practice. I went to costco before I went to softball practice. I like going to costco because of free samples(x. On Thursday, the periods were odd. We worked class day forms and banquet forms in the morning. In period one, we took notes of what people do in the kitchen, their specific jobs and what not. In period three, we turned in out first draft, well not really turned in, but we got it checked. We also started on out second draft. I learned lots of new ways to improve my writing. In period five, we played a review game with the substitute. I was in team one. I was satisfied with the people that was in my group. I had jessica, Brandalyn, Michael, Royce, Maurine, and Alicia. My team animal was, coincidentally, crabs!. It was funny! Because I'm crabs! LOL. We had to make like we were pinching everytime we got the answer. My team got second place, which meant two extra credit points for our test. I was trying to get first but group three was really close. I thought they should've got deducted points because they were really loud!. And the substitute specifically said if your group is too noisy they get deducted points. In track, we ran four hundreds. I tried the cookie dough f'real after track. It tasted good!. On Friday, I was all like "TGIF". I waited for Friday since Monday. Obviously chea. In period two, we had a test, and a quiz. Since we didn't finish the quiz, we took it home for homework. In period four, we worked on the dance in the cafe. It was pouring while we were in the cafe. So when we left the cafe, we were getting wet. My converse got wet because in the breezeway, there was a dunk and the water was up to my ankles. So I tipitoed to the other side, but my shoes still got wet. I changed into my nike shoes after. The things near the window got wet. We had to wipe down the things that got wet. In period six, we watched a movie, took a poetry quiz, and took more notes. In afterschool sales, something hillarious happened. In track, we practiced passing the batons. We raced against eachother and what not. After track, petriese and I ended up not going to softball cause we didn't get a ride home until later. We stayed at the school until six something I believe. We played with kendamas, glitter, rocks, and ate biscoff. We did anything to stay occupied. On Saturday, I went to the beach with my two friends. We went to Kailua beach. The sand there is really soft. We were swimming in the waves. It was raining too. I seen a honu swimming, and I told my friend and she got scared so she screamed and ran out of the water. After we didn't know where it went. Nextime, I'm bringing my body board, because it was really fun without the board, and I'm pretty sure it's gonna be better WITH the body board. Then I had a party to go to. Where I finally met my calabash cousin.

The Hilight of my week was when we were cleaning up afterschool sales on Friday. Chelsey was working the door that had the cardboard box infront of the doorway. When Mr. Ing said "close" Chelsey came in, and when she stepped on the card board, she slipped! And her Jordan slippers went flying, so did she. It was so funny. We all seen it happen. We were cracking up. Chelsey was sitting on the floor laughing as well. I wish I caught it on camera so I can watch it over and over and over again! It was so hillarious. Only people that were working after school sales seen it happen. So period four seen it all. The cardboard was wet because of the rain, that's why she slipped!(x After she slipped we were clapping, laughing, and saying "Hilight of the week, Hilight of the week".

The lesson learned was that it's better to be prepared for what could happen, than wait last minute to get ready. Like how I came really late on Tuesday for working in the morning. I had to wait for my brother to get ready for school as well. I woke up early to get ready, but I didn't wake up my brother. He woke up at about 7:10. He takes showers in the morning. Which takes 10 minutes. Then he eats breakfast, another 10 minutes. Then we finally leave. Now I know to be prepared for the future, and wake up my brother when I wake up, so we can leave on time.

Last week of 3rd Quarter

This week went by quickly. I hoped that it would, and it did. I wanted it to end so soon because Friday was our last day of school. Period 4A worked TV. On Monday the periods were even. 6,2,4. I went on TV with Mackenzie. 7-3 had a field trip to Iolani palace. So for period 6, English, I had people from Mrs. Tolentinos period 6 that didn't go to the field trip in my class. In period two, Mrs. Gouveia went on the field trip so I had to go to Mrs. Fujimoto for period two. I did extra credit for math. The next day the periods were odd. Alesia went on TV by herself. The periods were 1, 3, 5. In period one we had to turn in our work. In period three, we asked questions about the Iolani palace field trip. In period 5, we shared our science projects. On Wednesday, the periods were 2, 4, 6. In math, we had a quiz. In English, we watched a movie. On Thursday, we had the track meet. We won overall. We had to go to the last period of the day, period one. In period one, I fell asleep because I was really tired, I was in the sun, and running. Mrs. Kato didn't let anyone bother me. On Friday, I was so glad or was Friday because it was the last day of the week, and third quarter. We had period 4 first. We cleaned A101. I ate a kimchi bowl. In English, we watched a movie again. In advisory, we ate Mcdonalds for completing our 3rd Quarter blogs. In Math, we took notes. When the bell rang for the end of school, I jumped out of my seat and said "toodle-loo". Alesia and Chelsey came to my house after school. We made about three or four sets of smoothies. Well I made it. Alesia kept asking for more. If you asked her "Alesia what do you wanna eat" then she would say "smoothie". They all fell asleep at my house while we were watching vines in my room with the AC on. Their moms eventually came to pick them up that night.

The highlight of my week was the track meet. I ate about five of the energy shot gummies or whatever it's called. I ran the four hundred and mile. I came in 4th for the four hundred, and 10th for the mile. My time for the four hundred was 1:28. One minute and twenty eight seconds. I think that was pretty good time for me. It usually takes two minutes to go all the way around the track. I felt like I was gonna pass out at the end of my mile. But while I was running my mile, I tried not to walk, I kept pushing myself to keep going. I also tried pushing all of the other people that was running the mile with me, like petriese, jez, terilyn, and so on. I didn't want them to come in the very last. When petriese was walking, I kept telling her to keep going, don't stop. At the end, when I reached the finish line, they said I had a potatoe frown on my face(x. I was really tired, and sad that I came in 10th. I didn't cry though. We shouldn't cry. We won the whole track meet anyways. At least most of us tried.

The lesson learned was to encourage others and yourself to not give up. Like how at the track meet, when it seemed like they wanted to give up because they were walking the mile, I encouraged them to keep going. Atleast petriese came in 12th. I didn't want them to walk because I didn't want us to look like lazy people. Even thought I felt like I was gonna fall, I just kept my legs moving. The whole mile, I wasn't concentrating on the other people that I was running with. I was focusing on myself and my team mates. I made sure that none of then were the last person to cross that finish line.

Quarter Three Blog

Third quarter is over already?!. That was quick. This quarter, would have to be one of the best quarters. I improved a lot. We did stuff like spirit week, planning out orientation, and many more activities. My grades have also improved. Were almost done with the school year already. Sixth graders are gonna be here as seventh graders, and the seventh graders are gonna be eighth graders. Are you ready?. Things are gonna be different next year. The eighth graders are the ones that have to help the seventh graders. It's gonna be like that for the rest of our lives. The older people help the younger because the older you get, the more you know. I joined an activity that I'm for sure gonna stay in, which is track. We had weekly goals for AR. I did my best to complete every weeks goal. My points goal went up by a lot! It used to be in the "teens" but for this quarter I had to reach 29 points! That's a lot. So I had to get about four points every week. Weekly goals helps us to read more. But I don't like reading. I still read anyways, for the sake of AR(x. We also did the yearbook. The problems this quarter were really difficult to solve for some people. Some people, even a whole period, got stuck in a deep hole. But I'm glad they're making it out together as one.

Spirit week went smoothly. We had no problems with wristbands, penny wars, chain links, and canned food. 8-3 was crazy! They brought in tons of canned goods, and tons of coins! There were lots of competition. 7-3 didn't win anything. We have next year! There's always another chance.

We had a few fieldtrips. I went to ISA bowling twice. And yes, I know the objective!(x. Why is bowling so hard?!. Maybe I'm just too light because the ball is probably heavier than I am, jk. We challenged sixth graders again. Semester two started when third quarter started. I had only one different teacher. Which is Mr. Nishimura, to Mrs. Kato. Almost all of the students in my class are the same students in my class before. Only some people changed. In science, we started a whole different topic. We did the same in social studies.

My friendships with everyone has became stronger. That's good thing. It's a good thing because it will be easier for us to work together. By knowing everyone's strengths and weaknesses, we all came through together. My friendship with people I just met feels like I knew them my whole life. Like Chelsey. I met her just last year in the beginning of summer work days, but it feels like I knew her ever since kindergarten. It's that easy for me to make a friend. I try to make friends with the right people. Because your friends could change your future. If they're a bad influence, they could make you do the bad things that they're doing. It could give you a bad reputation, and it wouldn't get you a good job. A job will make you successful.

I learned a lot more than last quarter. I learned to delay gratification, to learn from your successes not your mistakes, and many more. Each quarter I learn a lot of new and different things. Like delay gratification, I showed delaying gratification this quarter by standing up the whole time when Mr. Ing said to go "stand and wait outside". Me, Khrizz, and petriese were the only ones who stood up the whole time. Everyone sat down because their legs were tired. All I did was put my bag down, and took out a book to read. So I was being productive by standing outside. I found lots of ways to stay out of problems, one of them was to listen to the simple directions that are given out.

Hopefully next quarter will be better than the rest. We will have to work harder, and do our best.

Spirit Week Blog

Spirit week was great. We had no major problems. Monday was sports day. I wore my bombers uniform. 7-3 had 32 dress outs. Tuesday was inside out. I turned my jacket, socks, shirt, and pants inside out. On Wednesday, it was aloha day. I wore an aloha print shirt, two leis, a fake camera, and Scott's. It was really cold, my toes were freezing!. On Thursday, it was military day. I wore a camo jacket, combat boots, and I had a us flag on my lanyard. Penny wars was really intense that day. People were bombing each other's jars with cash and silver coins. People brought in a lot a canned goods that hat to be stacked afterwards. But it was all going to a good cause. On Friday, it was team color. I wore a teal shirt. Team relay race was fun to watch.

The highlight of spirit week was working penny wars and chain links. It was the highlight because i never did anything like that before. I also liked watching people compete on who's team would get the most pennies, making the chain links for the teams. The lowlight of spirit week was when I came to school late on Friday. It is the lowlight of the week because I missed a lot. I missed working in the morning, I missed team cheer off, and when I came to school, I didn't know what was going on. So that set me back a lot.

A new activity we should have is a contest for each day of spirit week. Like a contest to see which person from which team would be dressed out the most. The prize should be extra points if they win. Each day, the contest will be for people that have dressed all out. It would make spirit week more intense and competitive. So people would want to dress out to win.

A new dress out day should have been superhero day. It would make people want to dress out for that day. It should've been superhero day instead of inside out. Because inside out was too easy. Some people were told by their teachers to just go to the bathroom and turn their clothes inside out. Superhero day, they wouldn't be able to go to the bathroom and change into super hero clothes unless they had it in their bags.

My overall experience was great!. I enjoyed my first spirit week at Ilima. I honestly would say this spirit week was better than the ones we had in elementary, and it was way different. What should've been done differently was the way that we placed the signs to indicate what team we were taking tallies for. We should have the sign on the table so they could see, because sometimes the chains would block the sign. And people came to our table but they were a different team. They didn't see the sign.

28th Week of School

This week went by really slowly. We had to get up and go to school before 6:30. So my days were pretty long this week. Spirit Week in Ilima is better than elementary spirit week, because there's a lot of competition. On Monday it was sports day. I wore my bombers uniform. Period four was supposed to be working ID's but we had to work spirit week. The periods were odd that day. In science, we had to do research on our endemic Hawaiian species. My research was on the Hawaiian Monk seal. On Tuesday, it was inside out. I turned my shirt, pants, socks, and jacket inside out. It was sorta uncomfortable. On Wednesday, it was Hawaii/Aloha Day. It was so cold! I wore slippers the whole day!. Afterschool, I also worked on my science project. I did a model of the Hawaiian monk seal. I used air-dry clay, and acrylic paint. It took a while to shape just one monk seal. I put sand on the project too, just to make like the monkseal is on the beach. On Thursday, it was military day. Penny wars was intense that day!. It went crazy!. People spent so much money. In each jar, there was more than $100 in cash!. Most of it was from only about five people.  It took a whole for us to wait for track practice to start. We finished school early that day. We finished at 1:30. Penny wars money counting was easy because Mr. Ing has a coin counting machine. In track, we ran about three four hundreds. And a mile. I ran a mile without stopping! I just kept going. I pushed my self to not give up. My time was 8:51!. I should try to shorten the time. I couldn't believe that I ran a mile. I usually would get tired in the middle of a 400, but I stayed at a pace that I was comfortable at. While running my third lap for the mile, it felt like I was gonna pass out. I was getting dizzy. LOL, dizzy, daisy(x. On Friday, it rained a lot after school. I came to school late that day. I came at the end of first period. I had a headache, but I took a pill then I took a nap, and I felt sorta better so I told my brother that I wanted to go to school. Mostly because I had to turn in my science project, and I had my interview. I was nervous for my interview, after jah finished her interview, I was getting even more nervous. Then when Jayde/Helen came out, I was freaking out. Then it was my turn. I was like woaaah, when I finished my interview. I was so relieved that I got it done. I had so much butterflies in my stomach before my interview and after.

The highlight of my week was spirit week. I'm used to waking up at 6:30 because of spirit week. And it was fun seeing people dress out, fight over what money goes into what. Making chain links. 7-3 didn't do that bad. But we didn't come in a place for anything. But it's okay! At least we tried! The only teacher that dressed out on all the days was our science teacher Mrs. Fujimoto. We had a bout 25+ dress outs a day. We had lots of pennies in our jar, but not as much as 8-3 did. I wish I was in that generation of team three.

Lesson learned was to never give up, even when you feel like giving up. Like when I ran the mile, I pushed myself to keep going and to not give up because I knew that I could do it and that I was gonna make it. Sitting down on a break isn't worth it. I delayed gratification when we had our breaks. I didn't sit down, I just kept moving around. I didn't drink too much water. But I let people drink my water. I came in about sixth place. I would've been in fifth, but Haley caught up to me at the lazy minute even though I swear she was behind me he whole time.

27th Week of school

This week was really fast for me. Probably because I only had three days of school. We had no school on Monday because it was PD day. I didn't go to school on Wednesday because I had a major headache like how I did that one time on a dress out day. But my headache went away later. Period 4A worked morning music. On Tuesday, the periods were 3, 5, 1. I had a quiz for social studies. I passed it. We also went to advisories to show our examples for spirit week. We did sports day that day. It actually went pretty well. On Wednesday, like I said, I was absent. On Thursday, the periods were 5, 1, 3. I did research on the monk seal for science. We had to do research on endemic Hawaiian species. In social studies, we took a practice quiz. We also played around the world guessing the names of the states in Micronesia, Polynesia, and Melanesia. I went around the world because I beat everyone. In home ec, we did a critical read. I actually fell asleep last class, and there were so much marks on my paper because I thought I was writing the right letters and numbers but I was half asleep and I wrote crooked lines. But that class, I finished my critical read, and I did everything that was needed. I did a better job than I did last class. I don't know why but I was just really tired. For advisory we dressed out for aloha day. I was dressed up as a tourist. I had sunblock on my nose, I had two leis, a fake camera, I wore Scott's, I rolled up my jeans, and I was wearing an aloha shirt. Friday went by quickly. The periods were 6, 2, 4. In period six we did articles on cyberbullying. In period two, we had to work on a question separately in groups that our teacher randomly chose for us. I think I had the beast group because I had my friends. Too bad Chelsey wasn't in my group. Brandalyn, and madelaine was in my group. We got the easy problem too!. For advisory it was military day. I had a camo jacket, combat boots, and a badge. It was really hot while I was wearing the jacket. It was also jaydes birthday!. In home room Jayde had two balloons with helium. So we cut one open, and sucked the helium out and videotaped ourselves. I was reading at the same time. So when I got the helium, I read what the book said.

The highlight of my week was going to advisories. I actually enjoyed walking to people's advisories showing them what you could wear and telling them what you couldn't wear. I was also happy to answer the questions that they had for me. It was also fun dressing out. I don't know how to explain it, but I enjoyed it. People had really good questions that I actually wondered about. That's what i liked about it.

Lesson learned was that you should really use your time wisely. I'm actually becoming really lazy now. I should change that. I'm trying to get my work done, but I get too distracted by my phone. I should really turn my phone off when I have to do my work. In order for me to get my work done, I need to take the time to actually finish it. Instead of rushing to get it done at the last minute. I need to take the time to produce quality work.
